Hello All,

After a simply amazing Swindon Invincible weekend Funkydoo resident DJ Smalley was inspired to put together this little discomix for this week's blog. It's a funky chunky disco mix and for what it's worth, it is dedicated to Vince and Steve for putting on such an amazing festival that Swindon can be proud of, now and into the future.

It's also dedicated to the staff of the festival who worked so hard to put the event together, the amazing artists that rocked the old town bowl relentlessly across the weekend, the sound and lighting engineers, the security who kept us safe from bad guys, the DJ's who rocked the gaps between live acts, the local promoters who pushed the event tirelessly all year and most of all to every single person that turned up and showed some premier league bad-ass support to this great event.

Many people have their own ideas about the highlights of the festival. Was it Zane Lowe who set the Saturday night alight with an unexpected energy and enhusiasm that lifted the crowd into a euphoric mess? Was it the Stanton Warriors who, despite a complete unleashment of heavens from above, provided an amazingly beautiful finish to the festival.

Some people might say that it was Beardyman with his hugely talented show of beatboxing trickery. Or, the Cuban Brothers who did cartwheels on the stage with their willies out. Benji Boko with his amazing show of DJ'manship and incredibly funky afro-inspired dancing as he played. The local hotshots Beatbullyz who kicked the Saturday party into life or the Dub Pistols with their dubbed out horny set of drunken loveliness. It could have been new local boys Disco Pierats with their unique sound or Cybernetic's epic journey through hip-hop on Saturday afternoon.

Some might think it could have been the turntablism of the Scratch Perverts, or even the 20 hot beach-ball bouncing babes on the stage for Nite Life's crowd pleasing monster house set. Maybe it was Kandifunk's everlastingly funky mix of house tunes, Discogiro's eclectic mix of beats or even our very own little Funkydoo Balearic Tea party mix of soul and disco that eased us back into the vibe on Sunday afternoon with delicious sets from DJ Smalley and Liverpool's Cosmic Boogie.

We, at Funkydoo, personally believe that it was all you punters that made it. The job was made easy for all artists involved when confronted with a crowd of over 3,000 beautiful people, all dedicated to having a great time and to supporting every act that performed for us over the weekend. It was a pleasure for us to be a part of and i'm sure every person involved in putting this on would agree!

So, this is good times for Swindon. We have an amazing new live music venue coming soon, and we have promise of an even bigger and better Invincible festival next year.
