Hello Funkydoo'ers!

We're sure you've heard the buzz around the Invincible festival that's been building over the last few months, and we're also sure you probably have your tickets already for the event that is bringing some real heavyweight dance music talent to our very own doorstep. This post however, contains a little bit of info about Funkydoo's little slice of involvement in this great weekend and to make this post even more pleasurable, Funkydoo resident DJ Smalley has put together a Balearic Tea Party mix for you to listen to whilst reading about the hugely exciting developments.

So, the Swindon Invincible festival takes place over two days in August (21st-22nd) and it all kicks off with an awesome day of electronic niceness on the Saturday with electrifying sets from Swindon's local BEATBULLYZ, the breathtaking beat-masters SCRATCH PERVERTS and the almighty ZANE LOWE. However, this post will be concentrating on the stunning second day Sunday line-up that brings us a truly world-class mixture of live performances that would grace any festival the world over.

We've already talked about the immense talents of BEARDYMAN, and we're hugely looking forward to catching him at 6.15pm on the Sunday, but on top of this we also have a fully live set from the amazingly funky live band DUB PISTOLS who we saw absolutely rock the Glastonbury this year with their indecently groovy live fusion of dub, funk, reggae, electro, ska and punk. The Pistols are performing at 4pm on the Sunday and this really will be a show to remember.

Then, if this is already not enough we also have the insanely exuberant CUBAN BROTHERS on at 7.45pm with their freakily entertaining show based around comedy, crazy dancing and a healthy dose of elbow shuddering latin american music. These guys have been consistently gracing the coolest of festival stages around the world for many years and this will be an act that needs to be seen to be believed.

Finally, the main headline event on the Sunday at 9.30pm, will be a fully live show from the dons of breaks themselves, the STANTON WARRIORS. The party will be whipped into a frenzy by then and there could not be anyone more perfect for the job of rocking the last hour of Swindon Invincible than these guys.

FUNKYDOO's BALEARIC TEA PARTY!

So, where does FUNKYDOO fit in?? Well, we will be kicking off the Sunday festivities in the Bowl with a sultry and soulful balearic mix of disco, soul, funk and reggae. We know that the hangovers may well be firmly in place from the Saturday, so what could be more fitting than a beautiful summery mix of brain-massaging music in the Sunday afternoon sunshine to get us back in the mood?

The festival doors were originally set to open at 3pm, but we can now confirm that we will be opening at 2pm on the Sunday only. Not only that, but we have secured a pocket tingling happy hour for the Funkydoo Balearic Tea Party between 2pm and 4pm. Yes, that means cheap beer and beautiful tunes, the perfect hangover cure as we get ourselves back into the groove before the DUB PISTOLS kick of at 4pm.

Not only this, but we are also massively excited to announce that Liverpool's disco master himself COSMIC BOOGIE, that we featured earlier this month, will be coming all the way down to Swindon to play for us at the Tea Party alongside resident DJ SMALLEY. If you havn't checked his mix out yet on this site, do so by clicking on the archive box to the right of this page - we love it here at Funkydoo, and we're sure you will love it too.

Phew, well, that's all good news then - as you know there is only 1 week to go and we've just been told that the Saturday tickets sold out last week, and there is really only a handful of Sunday tickets left so please, please get yourself organised if you havn't done so already and buy your ticket for what promises to be one of Swindon's best ever parties. http://www.swindoninvincible.co.uk

OK, thanks for reading - we'll shut up now and let you sit back once more and enjoy the sounds of DJ Smalley spinning some balearic tea party tunages for your listening pleasure.

ARE YOU FEELING INVINCIBLE??

We thought so.

FUNKYDOO xx
